FPS Pontoon Hire provides modular floating platforms for culvert inspection, repair and maintenance where access is over water or from channels, rivers and drainage structures.

Floating access for culvert works
Culverts can be difficult to approach safely from the bank, particularly where channels are deep, steep-sided or obstructed. A modular pontoon can create an access platform positioned close to the structure while keeping personnel and equipment together on a defined working area.

Configured around the site
We consider water depth and flow, bank access, platform size, anticipated personnel and loads, positioning, edge protection and the need for additional equipment. Gangways, scaffold towers, work boats, safety boats and ground protection can be included where appropriate. More complex arrangements can be supported by temporary works design and stability calculations.

Can the pontoon be used at a culvert entrance with restricted bank access?
Often, yes. The modular system can be configured and moved in sections where conventional access is difficult, subject to the available route, water conditions and installation method.
Can the platform support inspection and repair equipment?
Yes, subject to the agreed pontoon arrangement and load assessment. Provide the expected personnel, tools, materials and equipment so the working platform can be reviewed for the task.
Can FPS provide scaffold access or edge protection?
Where appropriate, scaffold towers, edge protection, gangways, safety boats and other supporting equipment can be supplied alongside the pontoon hire.
