Pontoon Delivery, Installation & Project Process

How FPS plans, mobilises, installs and supports commercial floating access projects from enquiry through to collection.

One Managed Process From Enquiry to Collection

A successful pontoon project depends on much more than the platform itself. FPS coordinates the information, logistics, access, installation method, safety controls and project-specific equipment required to get the system onto the water and ready for work.

Depending on the project, the package can include modular pontoons, nationwide transport, installation and dismantling, pontoon operatives, safety boats, work boats, edge protection, scaffold towers, ground protection, temporary works support and project-specific RAMS.

The process is adapted around the client programme, site constraints and work activity rather than forcing every project into the same mobilisation method.

The FPS Pontoon Project Process

Clear information early in the project helps reduce assumptions and makes mobilisation smoother.

We start with the project location, photographs, drawings, required work area, hire period and details of the people, plant or equipment using the pontoon. We also review known access restrictions and water conditions.

Where necessary, we request water depth, flow or tidal information, bank and launch details, lifting access, navigation constraints and client requirements. The pontoon arrangement is developed around the work activity and anticipated loads, with project-specific temporary works input where required.

Project-specific RAMS and water-safety controls are prepared to suit the installation and environment. Depending on scope, this may include life jackets, edge protection, rescue equipment, safety-boat cover, exclusion zones, lifting controls and environmental measures.

FPS transports the system and associated equipment to site. Mobilisation may involve direct vehicle access, HIAB lifting, hand-carrying, ground protection, site plant or an alternative launch point. The pontoon is assembled and positioned using the agreed method, including ropes, outboards or work boats where appropriate.

Before use, the installation is checked against the agreed layout and controls. FPS can provide operators, safety boats, work boats or repositioning support during the hire. At the end of the project, the system is removed in a controlled sequence, dismantled and collected.
