Emergency Response Pontoon Hire

Rapid floating access and marine support for urgent infrastructure, flood, pollution and asset-recovery situations across the UK.

Rapid Floating Access for Urgent Works

FPS Pontoon Hire supports contractors, asset owners and authorities requiring urgent floating access following infrastructure damage, flooding, obstruction, pollution incidents or unexpected asset failure.

FPS can provide UK-wide delivery, installation, hire and removal, with edge protection, scaffold access, work boats, safety boats and temporary works support available where required.

Typical Applications

  • Bridge, culvert and waterway damage
  • Flood and high-water incidents
  • Pollution and environmental response
  • Obstruction and asset recovery
  • Urgent inspection and temporary access

Planning, Stability & Water Safety

Platform size, working loads, positioning, restraint, access and water-safety controls are reviewed for the proposed activity. More complex arrangements can be supported by temporary works design and stability calculations.

How We Respond to Urgent Requirements

When a structure is damaged, a watercourse is blocked or an incident needs attention from the water, the priority is safe access as quickly as practical. Tell us what has happened, where it is and what needs to be reached, and we will confirm what equipment and people can be mobilised and when.

Mobilisation depends on equipment availability, distance to site, access for delivery vehicles and conditions on the water. We will be clear about what can be provided, and any limits, before we set off. Our main line, 01253 921 352, is answered 24 hours a day.

What Can Be Provided

  • Modular floating work platforms for inspection or temporary repairs
  • Floating walkways and temporary crossings where a route has been lost
  • Work boats for access, inspection and positioning
  • Safety boat cover for teams working near the water
  • Edge protection, life jackets and water-safety equipment
  • Ground protection for access over soft or damaged ground

For temporary routes and crossings, see Emergency Temporary Access Over Water below.

Safety Still Comes First

Urgent work still needs planning. Water level, flow, debris, weather and the condition of banks and structures are reviewed before anyone works on the water, and the arrangement is kept within safe operating limits. Where conditions are unsafe, we will say so and advise on the next practical step.

Information That Speeds Things Up

  • Site location or postcode and a contact on site
  • Photographs or video of the problem and the access
  • What needs to be reached and what work will be done
  • Number of people and equipment involved
  • Current water conditions and any access restrictions

Emergency Temporary Access Over Water

FPS Pontoon Hire provides modular floating access platforms for urgent and temporary access requirements where normal access routes, bridges, walkways or waterside structures are unavailable or restricted.

Subject to site assessment, programme and availability, a modular pontoon arrangement can provide temporary pedestrian or working access over or alongside water while repairs, inspections or other works are carried out. Modular pontoons can be configured as work platforms, walkways or temporary access routes to suit the site. Each arrangement is assessed against the required use, personnel, loads, water conditions, access and positioning requirements.

Typical temporary access applications

  • Access during bridge or walkway closure
  • Temporary contractor access
  • Emergency inspection platforms
  • Access around damaged waterside structures
  • Temporary pedestrian diversions
  • Short-term maintenance access
  • Support during urgent repair works

Project-specific controls

We consider platform dimensions, expected users and loads, water depth and conditions, bank connections, edge protection, gangways, positioning and any temporary works design or stability-calculation requirements. For planned diversion routes, see also our Floating Walkway & Pontoon Bridge Hire service.

Need temporary access over water? Tell us what has become inaccessible and what needs to cross or reach the working area. We can help assess a suitable pontoon solution.
