Project Overview
FPS Pontoon Hire provided floating access to the intake tower at Monikie Reservoir, Dundee. The platform allowed contractors to carry out brickwork pointing repairs directly from the water.
Traditional access was difficult because the tower sits within the reservoir. The embankment also offered limited space for plant and materials.
The Challenge
The site had a sloping grass embankment, restricted plant access and a stone retaining wall between the assembly area and the water. The work also had to take place beside the intake tower in live reservoir conditions.
The FPS Solution
FPS used a modular pontoon system and assembled the platform on the embankment. The team then lifted it over the retaining wall and positioned it beside the tower.
Once the pontoon was in place, the team completed alignment and stability checks. The finished platform gave the masonry contractor a practical working area next to the structure.

The Outcome
The modular platform provided direct access to the intake tower without requiring a permanent structure within the reservoir.
The arrangement gave the contractor a stable temporary working area and could be removed once the repair work was complete.
