Project Overview
FPS Pontoon Hire supported a specialist bridge-repair contractor carrying out masonry repairs to a historic bridge on a private estate in Cheshire.
The repair team needed access to brickwork and pointing close to the waterline, where conventional scaffolding would not have provided the required working position.
Project-Specific Pontoon Layout
FPS configured the floating platform slightly narrower than the bridge opening. This allowed the repair team to work close to the structure while retaining access along the waterside face.
From the pontoon, operatives could remove damaged brickwork, carry out replacement works and complete pointing directly above the water.
Benefits of Floating Bridge Access
The modular platform provided a practical working area without requiring a large land-based access installation around the private estate.
The same approach can be adapted for other bridge masonry, inspection and maintenance projects. See our Bridge Maintenance Pontoons and Floating Work Platforms.
Access on Private Estates and Small Rivers
Private estates often have narrow access routes, soft ground and structures with small openings. The modular system can be carried through the grounds and sized to fit the bridge opening, with ground protection used where vehicles need to cross lawns.
